A-VOYCE School Year

ACDC’s A-VOYCE School Year program runs from October to May/June serving high school-aged in the Boston-area, with programs in Chinatown and Malden. Participants meet twice a week after school. The A-VOYCE programming structure is a combination of collaborative learning and project-based work.

A-VOYCE equips youth to be community advocates who design spaces for collective dreams, joy, & power. We seek to guide youth from an inward exploration of personal identity into an outward transformation of community power.
— A-VOYCE Vision

ACDC runs A-VOYCE School Year programs in both Chinatown and Malden.

Why Chinatown and Malden?

  • In 1999, ACDC started its first Chinatown youth leadership program. Our Chinatown programs utilize placekeeping strategies to preserve and activate open spaces. The Chinatown programs directly combat gentrification and the cultural erosion of Chinatown.

  • In 2018, ACDC opened a satellite office in Malden, as a result of two things: 1) Malden is a gateway city for many Asian immigrants, and 2) gentrification displaces many Chinatown residents into Malden. Our Malden programs design projects to celebrate and bring awareness to the diversity of Asian and youth voices in the Malden community.
