Our festival program proudly highlights the stories and work of Asian immigrant and Asian American filmmakers and artists.

This documentary gathers several best Chinese Kung Fu masters living in the film industry (Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung, and more!), giving a full display of Hong Kong Kung Fu people in more than sixty years and showing their derring-do lives. Not Rated.

SATURDAY - August 26

FEATURE FILM: Police Story (1985) 1h 40m

Presented in Mandarin with English subtitles.

Jackie Chan and Maggie Cheung star in this iconic kung fu film where a virtuous Hong Kong Police Officer must clear his good name when the drug lord he is after frames him for the murder of a dirty cop. Rated PG-13.

SUNDAY - August 27

FEATURE FILM: Yes, Madam! (1985) 1h 33m

Presented in Mandarin with English subtitles.

In this action-packed film starring Michelle Yeoh, two unlucky thieves break into a just murdered man's hotel room and steal his passport with a hidden microfilm wanted by a triad boss. Two hard kicking women cops from HK and UK get the case.

Join ACDC and the Chinatown community for our 16th annual Films at the Gate Festival! As always, the festival is FREE and open to community members of all ages and backgrounds! Our festival program proudly highlights the stories and work of Asian immigrant and Asian American filmmakers and artists.

ACDC prioritizes the safety and well-being of community members and our staff and volunteers:

  • The event will have socially distanced chairs or groups of chairs for families/pods. We are limiting the number of chairs provided to allow for proper distancing.

  • You are welcome to bring your own chair providing that you adhere to the safety guidelines and will not obstruct the view for other guests.

  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available.

  • These guidelines may change in accordance with local, state and federal safety regulations. Please continue to check for updates on this page as the event date approaches.

2018 FILMS AT THE GATE FESTIVAL

THANK YOU to all of our sponsors, partners, amazing team of high school volunteers and community members for coming out and supporting ACDC’s Annual Films at the Gate, which revives the tradition of the Chinatown movie house. This annual event is organized and run by youth! The festival revitalizes Chinatown, brings together neighbors of diverse backgrounds and ages, and introduces kung fu films to a new generation.

We suggest taking public transit if possible, due to limited street parking in Chinatown. The Chinatown Gate is closet to the Chinatown T stop on the Orange Line, to South Station on the Red Line, and to the Tufts Medical Center stop on the Silver Line.
