"I heard about A-VOYCE the first time I visited the ACDC office. I just so happened to stumble in on a day of a field trip to see the construction progress of ACDC's One Greenway building.
I believe Jeena, the youth programs coordinator, was a big part in why I joined because she has this magical power to make anyone feel welcome. Through Jeena and Debbie, I became less of a stranger to the staff and youth.
I am involved in A-Board, a small group of 3-4 youth who take on leadership roles in and out of A-VOYCE. We tackle projects that benefit the community and the youth.
Not only has A-VOYCE taught me the historical background of Chinatown, but it has also influenced who I am now. With each workshop, I slowly became more engaged and involved in the discussions. Through this program, I have realized some of my strengths and weaknesses.
One of the most valuable things I learned was the sense of community. Building community can start with a small group of high schoolers."
