Since he first joined the staff in 1998, ACDC has evolved from a 3-person staff serving the immediate Chinatown area to a regional organization recognized for its large-scale real estate and affordable housing development and innovative community development efforts. Liu has directed a wide range of programs in community organizing, neighborhood planning, technology for limited English speakers, community development finance, participatory urban planning, youth and leadership development, and cultural heritage preservation. Under Liu’s visionary leadership, the organization has formed key nonprofit/for-profit partnerships for affordable housing development.

“I think that in the pursuit of bettering myself, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to improve the quality of life for all of us,” said Jeremy Liu. “In all of our work to help each other, in all of our work to help any community that needs help, we are actually bettering everybody. I’ve been blessed with that opportunity for the last 10 years. I think that inspiration really comes from both the folks before us who have left a path of opportunity and also the people who come behind us who you see ready to take those opportunities…as they better themselves and, along the way, better the community.”

The ACDC board of directors, led by Michael C. Tow, has formed a committee that has already begun its search for a new Executive Director. During this time, ACDC will be managed by interim executive director, Dharmena Downey, with the support of the ACDC Board of Directors.
