A-VOYCE Youth Program

Asian Voices of Organized Youth for Community Empowerment (A-VOYCE) is the Asian Community Development Corporation’s dynamic youth development program for youth from greater Boston.

A-VOYCE brings high school students together to use their voices in affecting positive change in the community through the power of dialogue and storytelling.

A-VOYCE serves youth ages 13-19 from the Greater Boston area, with an emphasis on low-income youth from Boston and urban Asian American (AA) communities in the metropolitan area.

The year-long programs begins with a comprehensive ten-session community development and cultural identity training curriculum. The curriculum includes lessons on the history of urban renewal and community development, guest speakers from the Chinatown community, interactive creative workshops and peer trainings by youth from other community and non-profit groups.

Following the initial curriculum, A-VOYCE youth move from theory to practice by participating in one of two project tracks, either the A-VOYCE Radio Project, or the A-VOYCE Chinatown Walking Tours.

  • The A-VOYCE Radio Show is a weekly, live public affairs and music radio show written and run entirely by youth.
  • The A-VOYCE Chinatown Walking Tours trains students to lead community tours of Chinatown, giving visitors new historical, cultural, and personal interpretations of the neighborhood.
